Anybody interested to share a cozy modern Laos house with a nice small garden in a quiet lane? FOr two people only but has 3 bedrooms, one can be used as office space/yoga/dance/free space/party/private space, however we mutually agreed on. 200-250$ each person (I am still negotiating, but can easily be $200 each). Nice veranda/terrace overlooking the small garden. Ample living/dining space with couches and chairs, TV, shelves, dining tables, cookwares, washing machine, fridge, etc. Also has a garage and a maid's room. The house is surrounded by some greenery, which is the view from the two bedrooms.

Located at Phonxay Road, in between the Vietnam embassy and the stoplight to go to the Thai consulate, almost in front of Wat Phonxay. Will post photos soon. But let's start talking if you are interested. Please email: dada.bacudo@gmail.com or call me: 020.76673168.

A l’image du pays comme de l’ensemble des régions montagneuse d’Asie du Sud-Est, la province de Phongsaly révèle une extraordinaire diversité de population. Qui sont-elles, d’où viennent-elles, comment comprendre les raisons de cette diversité et comment l’appréhender. Ces questions nous mènerons, à partir d’une présentation de cette province reculée, de son histoire mouvementée et des populations qui l’occupent, à revenir sur quelques idées reçues concernant les « minorités ethniques ».

Grégoire Schlemmer est ethnologue, chargé de recherche à l’Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD). Affecté au Laos depuis 2008 à la faculté des Sciences Sociales de l’Université Nationale du Laos, il y dirige le programme "Savoirs locaux aux Laos: dynamiques de l’ethnicité.

Sorry not to get back to you until now. The house sounds like a good set-up. What is the 3G key you need for the Internet? I'll be having to study for my qualifying exams at the end of the summer a lot so a quiet place would be good. (Didn't wanna just stay here in Massachusetts and study!)

I am interested in the house. I am going to need to get to my job near the National University via some sort of public transport, as I'm not planning to buy a motorbike during my relatively short stay. I believe that there is a bus that leaves from Talat Sao and goes by Patuxai. How many minutes does it take to go to Patuxai by foot?

I'd also like to know a little bit more about you. What are you doing in Laos?

Are you going to be around the weekend of June 2-3? I get into Vientiane the morning of June 2. I could also communicate via e-mail (joryhecht@gmail.com) or Skype before then. Some pictures would be great too.
