let's do some math....
1995 sq mtrs @ $3400/mtr = $6.8 MILLION US DOLLARS
1995 sq mtrs = 21,400 sq feet
a listing for land in DOWNTOWN San Francisco USA is...
25,000 sq feet for $3.6 million dollars

so... this lot on the Mekong is almost twice as expensive as land in downtown San Francisco. go figure.

also note that there is a road being constructed all the way to nong Khiao (18km total from vientiane, along the mekong... the nice view will be interrupted by trucks and busses fuming in your backyard (the wind comes from thailand 300+ days / year...)
and you can rent on the mekong for a few thousand baht, say $200, that's 34.000 months... even at $1.000 a month you'll need a few lifetimes to cover the purchse price!

What a BS post. How about the money go to the appreciation and retaining of the 80 languages and the corresponding cultures that exist in this country rather than give obscene amounts of dosh to the corrupt upper classes not to mention the government(the same people, yeah). Life here in Vientiane is so sickening with the lack of equitable wages and gainful employment being so overtly contrasted to directors of NGOs driving HUGE Lexus SUVs. Anyone living on the Mekong paying a grand a month in rent should have a bloody guilty conscience about how that money could be better spent...especially if you're paying your house staff a wage you wouldn't work for. Life here is not awesome it is glaringly inequitable. Selling land at this price while most people survive on sixty bucks a month is disgusting.
